The Acrylic Neon Series

I immersed myself in learning the process of achieving a realistic looking glow from 2020 through 2022. During this time period, the whole world was creating, showcasing, and consuming, an amazing amount of artwork.

Some of my favorite social media content at the time was street art, and one of the most mesmerizing styles to me was coming from a few who were creating this neon glowing effect. I wanted to learn how to do this on canvas, which would ultimately lead to being able to accomplish it in a tattoo as well.

I took what I could from watching it be done, then I set out to figure out my own process. I used images that were familiar to me through tattooing so that I could concentrate on achieving the effect without having to become familiar with the subject as well.

The following paintings are some of the results. All are done with a combination of acrylic paint, brushes, sponges, spray bottles, spray cans, paint markers, and airbrush, on pre stretched canvas, or canvas board.
